nem tartalmazott. Igen változatos volt azonban a temetkezési rítus. Hamvasztásos temetkezés, szarkofág, egyszerű földsír, téglasír, kőládasír és belül vakolt „sírkamra" is előfordult. A mintegy 30 méter széles kiemelkedés nyugat felé enyhébben, kelet felé azonban igen erősen lejtett. A keleti lejtés indulásánál a sírokat észak-déli irányú, kétrétegű kiszedett fal zárta le. Az Auchan által építkezés céljára igénybe vett terület keleti részén is húztunk mintegy nyolc szondát. Ezek azonban az építkezés várható mélységéig újkori, salakos feltöltést mutattak, s 4 méteres mélységnél pedig a talajvíz tette lehetetlenné a kutatást. Az alapozás során, az eastern side of the road leading to the military fort south of the Civil Town. The circa 5 m broad and 60 m long east-west oriented trench lay south of the test excavation conducted in the same region in 1997 (ZSIDI 1998, 7278.). The excavation supported results from the earlier test excavations. The graves from the two period cemetery continued over the sandy elevation following the path of the Roman period road. All of them, independent of period, had been robbed, so the 6 graves contained practically no finds. The burial rite, however was very varied. We found cremation burials, sarcophagi, simple shaft graves, brick graves, stone caskets, and also "burial chambers" plastered on the inside. The circa 30 m broad elevation sloped slightly to the west but very steeply towards the east. At the base of the eastern slope, the graves were enclosed by a northsouth running demolished wall in two layers. We also opened about eight test trenches in the eastern part of the territory to be used for the construction of the Auchan store. These, however, contained modern slag fill to the estimated depth of the proposed construction, while ground water hindered further work at a depth of 4 m. Paula Zsidi
