3. Kutatások Budaújlakon, az aquincumi katonaváros déli peremén /Hable Tibor/

Î3. kép bontottunk ki. A 30. és 32. objektumoktól /Árpád-kori beásásoktól/ keletre, a sárga altalajban, barnásfekete, agyagos iszap jelezte, hogy megtaláltuk a Márity Erzsébet által korábban már feltárt nagy csatornát vagy annak egy mellékágát /29. obj./, melynek 16 m szélesre kiszerkeszthető, legmélyebb pontján 1,5 m-es árka erős ívben fut a Bokor utca /esetleg a Bécsi út/ alá. Az iszap tetején Kr.u. 4.sz.-i bronzérmét találtunk, az újkori pincétől /31. obj./ délre, a korábban említett kis árok /22. obj./ nyomvonalától nyugatra, melyet itt, a már betöltött nagy csatornába ástak bele. 5.ütem: Az ásatás kezdetén még lakott házrész elbontása után folytathattuk a 12. objektum / keskeny római korú árok, és az őskori cölöprendszer feltáratlan részeinek vizsgálatát / 9. obj. /. További két kerek / 10. és 11. obj./, valamint egy, szabálytalan téglalap alakú verem szastone-lined Late Roman Period well (Feature 26) towards the southeast (Figure 13: Feature 193, see also Figure 8 upper right section). The slatelined shaft of the well was extremely well preserved. Its fill contained an intact water jug and quantities of ceramic fragments. Two additional wells (Feature 28) were excavated east of this feature. One was lined with a wooden barrel. Another Roman Period oblong feature, surrounded by post holes, was excavated north of these wells. East of Features 30 and 32 (Árpád Period pits) brownish silt with a high clay content in the light yellow subsoil indicated that the channel excavated previously by Erzsébet Márity or at least a side branch of it had come to light there (Feature 29). The ditch of this channel could be delineated showing it was 16 m wide with a depth of 1.5 m. It runs in a characteristic arch below the present surfaces of Bokor or perhaps even Bécsi Street. A bronze coin datable to the A. D. 4th century on top of the silt south of the modern cellar (Feature 31) and west of the traces of the aforementioned small ditch (Feature 22) was dug into the channel after it had filled up.
