OB-UGRIAN 'CONSUME' 123 AGENT is NOT CONTROLLABLE (not normally or potentially under human control). This yields the two major subdivisions of the sensés, (A) +CONTROL and (B) -CONTROL +CONTROL situations are governed by the ANIMACY HIERARCHY; -CONTROL situations are not. +CONTROL subdivides into two sensés: A (1) 'hâve sexual intercourse (with a woman)' and A (2) eat. A (1): the animacy hierarchy subdivides HUMAN at the top end of the scale: MALE is higher than FEMALE. A (2): entities higher on the hierarchy control entities lower on the hierarchy: HUMAN eats ANIMATE and INANIMATE, higher ANIMATE eats lower ANIMATE and lower ANIMATE (attempts to) eat (e.g. gnaws at) INANIMATE. Neither A (higher) nor 0 (lower) is marked; the word-order SOV clarifies, if necessary. In sum, here grammatical Subject and semantic Agent are identical, as are grammatical Object and semantic Patient.
