Jakobson's Phonological Theory from The Point of View of A Hungárián Phonetic Analysis Nowadays the importance of correlating generál and specific linguistics, syncronising the domestic and international research are often emphasized. The author's intention is to give an example of the practical realization of these two — according to her — sound principles. The paper consists of three parts. In the first part based on the matériái of the New Hungárián Dialect Dictionary in préparation, tbe author introduces the factors which made her discover and examine the realization of the consonant oppositions such as k/g, pjb, g/gy which appear in remarkably great number .n the wordform variations in comparing standard and dialectal Hungárián vocabulary like kunyhójgúny hó, csipog/csibog, gerezd/gyerezd. She gives a short account of the methodological experiment she tried on the vocabulary beginn ing with c and cs in the above mentioned dictionary in order to delimit the problems for future research and to form its methods. The results of this experiment were published earlier in the Nyelvtudományi Értekezések, 67: 117 —133. The second part deals with tbe principle of binary oppositions and the theory of the distinguishing features because they touch on several points and in various ways the above mentioned special linguistic task. It also gives an opportunity to an objective présentation of Jakobson's phonological theory, moreover to a critical analysis at ieast of its main characteristics. It examines e. g. the question of the phonème définition both as given by the Prague School and by Jakobson; it adds some remarks concerning the problems of the hierarchy of language levels, the acoustic oppositions brought into foeus, the phonologie and non-phonologie characteristics in Jakobson's theory. It also gives a short survey of the preliminaries and the influence of this important theory. In the third part the author compares her special research with the already mentioned theory considering the results of their reciprocity. She examines what place her own phonetic analysis will hâve among the différent utilizations of Jakobson's theory. She mentions that to raise and to clear the questions connected with her special research is possible only as the resuit of the thorough Cognition of the mentioned theory; that of such questions as the phonèmes as such, the aspect of the oppositions of the k/g, p/b types to be examined, the utilization of the implication rules, the applicability of the yes-no sélection.
