A possibly uniform definition should be established with regard to the main criteria - especially with regard to nationality mother-tongue and used language - wich would be appropriate to include into the European recommendations relating to the next population censuses; The Statistical Offices make it possible for the representatives of the main ethnic groups to participate in the censuses /for example preparation, publicity, data collection/; In the course of the grouping and processing the national/ethnic/language data will be tabulated and published alsó by the smallest geographical units /e.g. settlements, villages/ or, respectively, will be made available in this form; The traditional criteria by demographic and socio-economic characteristics will be tabulated alsó separately with regard to the nationality/ethnic/language group by the appropriate régiónál units; The Statistical Offices of the participating countries will publish the nationality/ethnic/language group statistical data of the decennial censuses alsó in a common volume in a way that every nationality/ethnic/language group with a size of 10.000 be presented separately. The first volume containing data of the censuses around 1990 will be edited and published by the Hungárián Central Statistical Office and the Statistical Offices of the countries will provide their respective information for the volume on the basis of their final data; In order to obtain a better knowledge of the size and composition of the nationality/ethnic/language group populations, as additions to the full-scope population censuses, special surveys of identical contents should be performed in the areas inhabited by various nationality/ethnic/language groups. In order to test these special surveys pilot surveys with a jointly elaborated program may be planned for the period after the completion of the national censuses. The Statistical Office of Burgenland is ready to contribute to this project by sharing its experiences with those interested; The available vitai statistical data /births - marriages - deaths/ as well as the immigration and emigration data of the nationality/ethnic/language groups will alsó be processed and published. 354
