BEVEZETŐ

INTRODUCTION The results of the 1996 micro-census are published in a series of volumes by the Hungárián Central Statistical Office. The first volume of the series is the publication entitled „Population and Housing Characteristic", which summarises the most important details of the survey. The volumes are based on a 2 percent sample of the population. They focus on various specific topics with relation to housing characteristics, which are published subsequently. This volume provides detailed data concerning female fertility and its connection to underlaying social and cultural criteria. The set of tables containing historical and régiónál data is alsó supplied. Information regarding to the counties in question were compiled regionally. The regions were determined according to recommendations of experts in the field of study. Male fertility data was categorised by age group, number of children and marital status. The analysis includes only the essential aspects of the field, which are indispensable in presenting recent female fertility. 18
