1990. ÉVI NÉPSZÁMLÁLÁS A háztartások és a családok adatai az állandó népesség alapján (1995)

BEVEZETŐ

INTRODUCTION The results of the 1990 population census are published by the Hungarian Statistical Office in a series of publications. The first volume of this series contains the preliminary results of the census, while later a volume included the most important data combinations based on a 2-percent sample taken from the census material. As continuations of the series of publication the volumes with the detailed demographic, educational attainment, occupational, household, family and housing data of the 19 counties and of Budapest as well as the data collection containing their summarized, country-level information were published. Furthermore, special topic volumes according to the main subject-matters (demography and educational attainment, occupation, household and family, dwelling and residential building) were also published. Besides, special publications have dealt with the composition of the population by nationality, ethnic group and mother tongue, the commuting of active earners, etc. Every volume of the series of publications has also the most important results of the previous population censuses adapted to the concepts used at present and to the present regional division. The volume on 'Household and family data' published in 1993, contains this information according to the resident population. Thus, data of people living temporarily separated from their household/family — e.g. because of working or studying elsewhere —, were not included. Present volume contains the same types of data according to the permanent population avoiding the impact of temporary absences on the real composition of households/families. Selected tables taken from the former publication according to resident population, allow the comparison of data of both processings. Chapter on 'Summary data' contains the main household and family data according to the 1980 census as well. This is followed by the 1990 combination tables, a part of which make it possible — by presenting the summary data of Budapest, the urban and the rural areas — to compare, beyond the country-level data, also the data by type of localities. The tabulated part of the publication is closed by the data summarized in county lines and by the population sizes of the localities. The volume is completed by the explanation of the most important concepts used. 16
