In the coming decade generations of great number will add again to the number of the elderlies. On the other hand it can be seen presently, that the aging process of the two sexes diverged in the seventies: while the number of old men stagnated, the number of old women increased by 7 percent. The extent of the decrease in the proportion of old men equals the extent of the increase in the proportion of old women. In the previously mentioned age group (7 5-X) the growth pace of the number of men and of women are almost similar. 31 percent in the case of men and 37 percent in the case of women. As a result of this the rise in the average of women exceeds that of the men further on. Only in the case of the elderlies is the change in the proportion of sexes worth mentioning, here the number of women per 1 000 men rose by 90 from 1970 to 1980, in the age group 85-X the women excess rose from 852 to 1 331. The greatest problem for the society is the care of those very old women who need support because they are widowed (87 percent) living alone without any family relations.
