VII. THE SOCIAL STRUCTURE OF THE SOCIETY

If we examine the composition of households by the class or stratum position of the household head, we can conclude that, - where the household head belongs to the working class, there 7 5 percent of the households are homogeneous and the proportion of working class - professional or routine nonmanual composition households is 20 percent; - 56 percent of the cooperative peasant household head households are homogeneous and the proportion of working class - cooperative peasant composition households is extremely high (31 percent); - the households of professional or routine nonmanual household heads are the most closed, 81 percent of them are homogeneous; the proportion of working class - professional or routine nonmanual composition households is 17 percent; - 57 percent of the households of selfemployed household heads are homogeneous and almost one fourth have working class active earner member. In 40 percent of the households only working class people are living, in 17 percent only professionals and routine nonmanuals, and in 11 percent only cooperative peasants. Among the heterogeneous households the proportion of working class - professional composition households is high. In 41 percent of those households where every member is active earner live only workers or foremen, in 21 percent live only professionals and routine nonmanuals, and in 18 percent of the households live workers and professionals together. The proportion of only active earner cooperative peasant households is less than 7 percent, and the only active earner selfemployed households' proportion is 1. 8 percent. In almost half of those households which include only inactive earner members, only working class people live, in one fourth only cooperative peasants and 15 percent only professionals and routine nonmanuals. In the case of those households which include both active and inactive earners the proportion of the homogeneous working class households is also the highest (31 percent). Among the mixed activity households the proportion of heterogeneous households is considerably higher; the proportion of working class - cooperative peasant composition households is almost one fifth, the proportion of working class - professional and routine nonmanual households constitutes one fourth of the mixed activity households. The average size of the household is greatest in those homogeneous households where only working class people are living (2.86 for the only active earner households, 1.57 for the only inactive earner households and 3.49 for the mixed activity working class households). Among the heterogeneous households this indicator is highest (3.64) in the case of the working class - cooperative peasant households with only active earners households, among the mixed activity heterogeneous households the indicator is highest also in the case of the working class - cooperative peasant composition households (3.96). Among the only inactive earner households the household sixe is greatest in the case of the cooperative peasant - professional and routine nonmanual composition households. 118
