can be determined more accurately in a survey of buildings. However the simplification of the census method required the ommission of a separate statistics of buildings. This was also justified by the fact that in some cases not every dwelling in a building was built in the same year, thus questions concerning the dwellings were preferred. However, if the responses in two surveys of data hardly separated by a period of one month are different to such an extent, the consideration of the census method becomes necessary. With the year of construction the situation is more complicated, so it cannot be expressed by the mere year. The registering of the construction (original) or reconstruction in the case of buildings damaged by the war and afterwards reconstructed to a smaller or greater extent or perhaps completely rebuilt may be a source of uncertainty. On the contrary the limit was not prescribed. Small alterations evidently cannot be regarded as reconstruction. Such a more radical solution would also be possible which extended the question, also touching upon the year of the original construction and the extent and date of further alterations and extensions. This would facilitate the judgement of central coding and supply further data of substance. It is also evident that the census is required to demonstrate the age of buildings and dwellings in such groups which can be characterized by one date by buildings as well as dwellings. In the solution of the problem also this demand must be kept in view. There are still many methodological problems to be solved in the field of the census survey of the data of dwellings and buildings as well as the suitable registration and following of data between two censuses. Considerable improvements are necessary in view of the unification of concepts and the completeness of registration in order to raise the level of the reliability of the data as required. 8.
