had once formed part of the famous Sevso Treasure. Likewise to her credit were her reconstruction of an early Byzantine silver dish from Tépe and her conservation of a Roman helmet found at Eskü tér in Budapest. Among the many artefacts she worked with, these two stand out. She also co-operated in the restoration of many historical monuments and participated in the organising of exhibitions. She undertook an active role in the work of the Hungarian Association of Conservators, and was a member of the governing body of the Vince Wartha Fine Arts Foundation. Among the objectives of the last mentioned is the safeguarding of the heritage of the conservation profession, educational work, and the bringing out of publications dealing with the history of the conservation. Katalin T. Bruders work was always precise, careful, and patient; and it always strove for authenticity. In this way, she set the bar high for her colleagues. Her outstanding achievement brought her recognition on many occasions. She was awarded the Nívó Prize in 1984, the Noémi Ferenczy Prize in 1997, and the István Schön- visner Archaeological Heritage Memorial Medal in 2012. With Katalin’s death the profession took leave of an eminent personage whose name was recognised and respected.
