Seres Tamás: A nagypeleskei Istenszülő ikon restaurálása
Műtárgyvédelem 36 pilaster part were carved from lime-wood by Mária Szabóné Szilágyi. The filler used consisted of chalk, animal glue, and a preparation consisting of 1 part dammar gum, 1 part Venice turpentine, and 1 part linseed oil. The varnish applied to the surface was made by mixing 1 part dammar gum dissolved in turpentine with 1 part Par- aloid B67 dissolved in white spirit. The colouring of the reconstructed parts was achieved through retouching, while aesthetic restoration was performed using Schmincke watercolour paints; varnishing was effected using the traditional technique. The final coat of varnish was Talens acrylic varnish. The restoration work took place in 2010/2011 at the Department of Restoration and Conservation Studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, with financial support from the Abel Foundation. The supervisor of this project for completion as part of a degree course was Péter Menráth DLA; Kornélia Forrai and Szilveszter Terdik were consultants.
