A műtárgy oldalait a hordozó anyagából kialakított 8 cm magas és 2 cm széles perem védi. A mozaik enyhén kiemelkedik az installációból (11. kép). A mozaik restaurálása a 2008/2009-es tanévben, a Magyar Képzőművészeti Egyetem Restaurátor Tanszékén, a festőrestaurátor képzés keretében történt. A diplomamunka és a hozzá kapcsolódó szakdolgozat témavezetője Bóna István DLA habil, a konzulensek Balázs Miklós Ernő DLA habil és Kriston László voltak. A fotókat készítette Kürtösi Brigitta. Restoration and Investigation of Fragments of a Roman Mosaic Floor (The Governor’s Palace at Aquincum) Brigitta Kürtösi The author first conducted research into the materials and techniques used in the making of antique Roman mosaics in connection with the restoration of a piece of 2nd-century mosaic flooring, her chosen graduation task. When the similarities and differences concerning structural make-up are investigated, local peculiarities in the history of the making of mosaic floors emerge. Similarities and differences became demonstrable in space and in time with regard to the materials and techniques employed by the Romans in Pannónia. Comparisons made with samples of mortar and stone materials from mosaic floors discovered at other archaeological sites indicated that investigations are taking 124 alacsony molekulasúlyú apoláros gyanta. Nem sárgul, kültérben is alkalmazható az időjárásnak kitett felületeken. Jó hőállósági tulajdonságokkal rendelkezik és UV-álló. Alifás és aromás oldószerekben oldható.
