Mijátovits Krisztina: Eszter-tekercs restaurálása: egy valódi pergamenpapír kiegészítési lehetőségei
Manual repair seem suitable in the case of the less incomplete other sheets with long tears. Papers cast in advance for the purpose were suitable for completion. Gluing could safely be solved: the papers were somewhat overlapped, the edges were thinned with scalpels of replaceable blades and isinglass glue was used for gluing. Dense glue was used for gluing by minimal moistening. The glued surfaces were immediately pressed and so corrugation could be evaded. The sheets completed with manual leaf-casting and manual repairs were left in the press until they dried and then the sheets were glued to each other and to the wooden roll. With regarding to the shiny and rigid surface and the sensitivity of the paper parchment, we found that reeling the parchment on a tube of a larger diameter than on the smaller original roll was more advantageous from the respect of the preservation of the object. Thus, beside a case that exactly matched the measurements of the object, a tube covered with acid-free paper was also prepared. The wooden roll could exactly be fit into the slot cut into its wall and the conserved scroll could safely be fixed to it.
