Kovács Petronella: A váci Fehérek templomában feltárt festett és textillel bevont koporsók restaurálása
THE RESTORATION OF TEXTILE COVERED COFFINS FOUND IN THE DOMINICAN CHURCH IN VÁC Abstract: Following the opening of the crypt in the Dominican church in Vác, 169 painted and textile covered coffins were taken to the collection of the Tragor Ignác Museum, For the sake of the earliest possible restoration, restorers of wooden objects were invited for three seasons resulting in the restoration of 72 coffins. The porous paint on the coffins was fixed with a 5 -10% solution of poly(vinyl-butyrate) and a 5% solution of Regnál poly(vinyl- butyro-acetatc). The necessary complements were made from wood. Aquarelle and tempera were used for a minimum of retouching. Two textile covered coffins have been restored to date. The linen cloth fixed vnth copper-headed nails was not removed. Its wet cleaning with 0,2% detergent was made with the help of a vacuum cleaner. Crepelinc dyed to the necessary colour was used to support the linen, and cotton was used to complete it.
