Restaurálás - Beöthyné Kozocsa Ildikó: Két XIII. századi pergamenoklevél restaurálása: esettanulmány

THE RESTORATION OF TWO 13th CENTURY PARCHMENT DOCUMENTS: A CASE STUDY Abstracts: These two documents were written in 1218 and 1281 respectively. Both pieces of parchment were damaged, moldy, stained and torn. In many spots they were thinned, became crumbly and thus disintegrated. The documents were repaired at the beginning of the 1960’s. They were mounted on a screen by their back sides, however, no record is available concerning the materials used. The aim of restoration was to treat the two parchments using the possibly most up to date methods. The screen tissue was removed from the back using a solution of ethyl-acetate. Torn parts were repaired with goldsmith’s foil and special parchment glue. The two documents were cleansed using ethanol ad desinfected with a 1% solution of Preventol CMK. The missing parts were completed with parchment paste applied on a suction table.
