Restaurálástörténet - Bakayné Perjés Judit: Az aquincumi orgona restaurálásának története
In the early years of the 1950s Viktor Raphael, painting restorer, fitted the pieces again and completed the damageing parts. In spite of these endeavours by the second half of the 1960s the fragments covered with active green corrosion layer had to be preserved again. This preservation and restoring process was carried out by the Central Museum and Technological Group. Owing to the damp exhibition hall (80-90 RH%) of the Aquincum Museum, in the early 1980s, the fragment of the organ had to be once again preserved. The fourth restoration was performed by László Ben-csik. This time the fragments were copied and these were put on show. At this point two questions may be staged:- how many restoration processes may suffer an archeological or museum object?- what remains of the original object having undergrone quadruppled preservation process? When preserving archeological finds the restorer’s responsibility is especially high in considering to what extent the historical data borne by the object is destroyed or preserved during treatment.
