of their peculiar, fibrous corrosion could be reconstructed on melted glass prepared by the author. The chemical and physical properties of this material were made similar to those of the ancient beads. Technological experiments supported the hypothesis that in the early stage of glass manufacturing, the technique of glass blowing as well as the glass pipe, was already known by craftspeople. It is also likely that, historically, wooden or pottery moulds were used. Since in Europe the most important raw material for glass manufacturing, sodium carbonate is known to have occurred only in Hungary, one may reasonably hypothesize that such beads were locally manufactured.
