JANOVICH, István New facilities for the prevention of damage by insect pests- Summary The author emphasizes the importance of all-round - physical, biological and chemical - protection of artifacts. Based on the survey of the international technical literature the article summerizes the species-specific compounds which can be applied in protection and stresses the importance of hormones (produced by the insect for the regulation of its organism) and ferbmones (compounds produced by another insect of the same species perceived with the aid of the former's senses, e.g. odours). The author discusses at length the activation, moulting and juvenile hormones as well as the sexual, alerting, tracing and aggregation feromones. On the premises of museums there are innumerable store room doors and windows which do not shut properly. The protection of these areas against insect pests by hormones and feromones will certainly gain ground in the future.
