Izabella Humor The Restoration of a 17th c. bow, quiver and arrows The bow, quiver and arrows to be restored were found in awfully bad condition, under the ruins of the Esterházy Palace ruined by bombardment during World War II. The restoration is interesting because of the miscellanious materials, too. Animal’s tendon, karatoid, wood, leather, textile, metal, feather are treated there. It was necessary of course to get acquainted with the structure and way of construction of the bow before the work could be started. This is described in an accurate and interesting way in this study /following the work of dr Gyula Fábián/. It was not a minor task to apply special treatment by tannin to the replacement of the missing piece of the quiver was a complex task, since it is made of oxhide, combined with textile, decorated with metal thread embroidery.
