A X. Országos Restaurátor Konferencia (1983. december 12-14.) alkalmából elhangzott előadások - Éri István: A restaurátorok képzéséről, képzettségéről
kétévenkénti nemzetközi konferenciák, szemináriumok, a képzés és a továbbképzés számos alkalma jól összekovácsolódott, egymás munkáját ismerő, értékelő kollektívát teremtett. István Eri About the education and educatedness of the restorer Museologists have an advantage of several decades in the training of museum experts: in Hungary already as early as the last century they were expected to have a university degree. V In comparison, the training of restorers by courses started only in the 1950s,- while academic training for restorers of art objects started in 1968. In 1974 a similar training was introduced for the restorers of archaeological objects, objects of applied arts and those of ethnographical character. From 197o up to our days 62 art restorers have taken their degrees, while the number of restorers of "objects" has reached 65 from 1978 on. This has resulted in a great qualitative change: at present 4o% of our restorers - numbering 3oo in all - have undergone academic training. Simultaneously the conversion of restoration workshops in museums into laboratories has also been gaining ground together with the scientific analyses of materials and technologies. From 1975 on Hungarian restorers can publish their results in yearbooks; 14o such articles appeared in Protection of Museum Art Objects while 3o essays were published in the volumes containing the lectures of our International Restorer Seminars. The annual national conferences and the two-yearly international seminars as well as some other occasions for training have resulted in bringing about a community knowing and respecting the activities of its members. 201
