A szerző képet ad Uj-Irland társadalmáról, majd a restaurálás folyamatának leírása következik. A műtárgyat, azaz a maszkot eredeti állapotába kellett visszaállítani, amely a régi átfestés eltávolításából állt, valamint a hiányzó részek pótlásából.

Az óceániai kettős faszoborról szóló részben részletesen bemutatja a tárgyat és leírja, hogy történt a szobor faanyagából a régi konzerváló anyagnak a kivonása és az esztétikai és múzeumi követelményeknek megfelelő uj restaurálás és konzerválás alkalmazása.

Restoration of a New-Ireland ceremonial mask and a double wood-carving of Oceania

I. A ceremonial mask of New-Ireland

The author gives a picture of the society of New-Ireland. It is then the description of the restoration process which follows. The artefact, that is the mask had to be restored into the original state, a work which consisted of the removal of the old painting over and of the supplement of the missing parts.

II. A double wood carving of Oceania

This part of the paper gives a detailed description of the object and makes known how the extraction of the old conservation material had been carried out and how the new restoration and conservation methods complying with the aesthetic and museologic requirements had been utilized.

Restaurierung einer zeremoniellen Maske aud New-Ireland und einer doppelten Holzstatue von Ozeanien

Die Arbeit besteht aus zwei Teilen:

I. Eine zeremonielle Maske aus New-Ireland

Die Verfasserin gibt ein Bild vor der Gesellschaft von New-Ireland, dann folgt die Beschreibung des Restaurierungsvorganges. Man sollte den Kunstgegenstand, das heisst die Maske in den originalen Zustand retablieren. Diese Arbeit bestand aus der Entfernung der alten Übermahlung und aus der Ergänzung der fehlenden Teile.

II. Eine doppelte Holzstatue von Ozeanien

Dieser Teil der Studie führt den Gegenstand eingehend vor und beschreibt, wie die Extrahierung des alten Konservierungsmittels ausgeführt wurde und wie die neuen, den ästhetischen und museologischen Anforderungen entsprechenden Restaurierungs- und Konservierungsmethode angewendet wurden.
