INHABITED PLACES OF HUNGARY REGISTERED BETWEEN 1903-1912 AT THE END OF THE 20™ CENTURY After the changes of names of the period of unsystematical official place-name giving, in the time of the national arrangement of place-names which took place between 1900 and 1912, the names of considerable wastes, habitations, farmsteads and other inhabited places which belonged to commimities, municipial boroughs or corporate towns were registered into the national communal register as well though in somé cases only several years later. This work aimed to identify these Settlements (with actual expression inhabited places) and conveys the name or names, administrative status and other actual data of them. It contains data in tabular form in alphabetical order fírstly by counties, secondly by districts in the order of the mother-settlements and thirdly in the order of the inhabited places. (The date of the Promulgation of the order of the Minister of the Inferior which verifies the names of inhabited places which became official after the registration can be found in brackets behind the name of the county.) In the 1* coloumn of the chart the names of the inhabitant places occur as entries. In case any of the names changed during the registration the previous name(s) or those used collaterally can be found after a „/" sign. The 2 nd and 3 rd coloumns of the chart contain the district and settlement status. The 4* coloumn contains the actual official (or considered as official) name or other Hungárián (and foreign) name of the inhabited places and comments if necessary. The 5* coloumn includes the nation- and generalíy county-level administrative status. The actual settlement status of the inhabited places occurs in the 6* coloumn. There is a „—" sign in the 4 01 coloumn relating to independent Settlements which were founded from registered inhabited places meantime. The actual names of these Settlements got into the 6* coloumn. The head-piece of the chart: Registered name /previous or parallel changes of name(s) District Settlement status in the time of registration Actual Hungárián (and foreign) name [Notes] Country and administ­ration Actual settlement status For the better use of the work there is an index which belongs to the chart. It contains all the actual and former names of inhabited places which occur in the chart. The names refer to the registered names (the entries). Indicating the then county and district status of the inhabited places makes the search possible and indicating the regarding page number which can be found at the end of every entry makes it easier. This work contains about 7260 changes of name of 3832 registered inhabitant places altogether. Klettner Csilla
