I put ourselfes under the protection of England and beg for it in the name of humanity. The time runs fast. In a few days perhaps our fate may be sealed. May it yet be permitted to me, to make humbly a personal request. I am a man Mylord ready to meet the worst. I can dy with a free look to heaven as I have lived. But I am husband, son and I am lather Mylord! And my poor truehearted wife and my poor childern and my old noble mother are wandering in my unfortunate native land and are or will be soon taken by the Austrians, who rejoice to torture even feeble women and before whom the innocence of childhood is not secure from persecution. I conjure in the name of God Your Excellency, to put an end by your powerfull mediation to these attrocities and especially to accord to my wife and children an asylum on the hearth of the generous English people. And my poor, my moble, my beloved native land

! shall she perish for ever ? shall she be doomed to extermination by her tyrants unhelped, unavenged and abandonned to death? Will England, once our hope, not be the consolation for her ? The political interests of the civilized Europe, so many ponderous considerations for England herself, and chiefly the subsistance of the turkish Empire are too strongly tied to the historical existence of Hungary then that I should loose every hope. May God the allmighty you protect Mylord for many years, that you may yet long protect the unfortunates and be the honoured guardian of the rights of freedom and humanity.
