Inner City, Lipót City) by Vera BÁCSKAI (Bp. 1976.) * The archival material preserved in the Budapest Municipal Archives is open to research under the valid general rules. The central research room in the City Hall (V. Városház u. 9-11) is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. One has to apply for research permission here.It is also here that the overwhelming majority of the archival material may be used. The bulk of the archival material of the economic organs preserved by Section III is, however, open to research in the part of the Archives situated in Hess András Square (I. Hess András tér 4.), on previous application. In the central research room the researchers may use both the above enumerated, published finding aids and other, hitherto unpublished descriptions. Here a microfilm reader is at their disposal for the use of our microfilm collection. Copies of the archival material may be obtained in the xerox workshop of the Archives, or the research workers may make photographs with their own camera in the archival premises. They may also order copies of our documents in the microfilm laboratory of the Hungarian National Archives. In the central research room also the books of the special library, related to the individual subjects, may be used. The library (totalling 11,000 volumes) collects all scientific works on the history and actual problems of Budapest regularly; it also purchases the basic works published on Hungarian and international city history, or Hungarian and universal history, respectively.
