Director: Dr. Sándor LADÁNYI Up to the most recent times the archives of the church district did not go beyond the tasks of the registry of administrative organs. The foundations of the archives were laid in the autumn of 1951, when the Minister of Cults and Education declared the whole archives of the Danubian Reformed Church District and of the Ráday Library a private (collecting) repository of national interest. Thus the church district pursued a clearly scientific goal, when it made its archives a self-standing institution, appointed a qualified person as a head and set it the task of collecting the archival material of ecc­lesiastical organisations and of laics in connection with the life of the church, and also of making this material accessible for scientific research. By his decree No. 95229/1969. XVIII. the Minister of Culture declared the archives maintained by the Danubian Church District a special archives, with the seat at Budapest under the name of "Archives of the Danubian Reformed Church District". By all these measures, together with the gathering and arrangement of records for about fifteen years the quantity and the value of the archival material have greatly increased.
