registers added to this material (with some lacks), but the Categoria-system makes research easier even independently of those. b) The Archivum Saeculare contains the records of domanial administration and political activity. Inside this series the Acta Radicalia (up to 1825) embraces records securing the possessionary and other rights of the archbishopric, the property titles of the various estates and privileges and records of political rights. The Acta Protocollata (a formal denomination) are historical notes on the various primates, socage books (urbaria), registers of issued records, donation books of the "praediales", formularies, epistolaries, books of armorial bearings, lists of records (elenchi), judicial registers, etc. up to 1793. Another important group of the Archivum Saeculare bears the name "Archivum juridico-oeconomicum et directorale". In the order of "tituli", arranged in the past century, we find records on public law, national and county politics, the "praediales", the attorneys of the primate, the boundaries, the election and the accounts of the village magistrates, measures in military affairs and war, socage matters, general economic measures, selling of produce, tithes, constructions, forestry and land survey, etc. up to 1854. The archives preserve the economic accounts of the primatial audit office from the seventeenth century to 1944. Important archival groups are the records of the Directorate of Estates, the Building Office, the Chief Forest Office, the Domanial Courts, the single estates, the Esztergom Seminary and the Primatial Court Christian. Besides the original finding aids research is helped by the Útmutató az esztergomi Prímási Levéltárhoz (Guide to the Esztergom Primatial Archives), a work by György Bonis, edited by the Archival Board (Budapest, 1964). It embraces the material of the Archivum Ecclesiasticum. In the 1950s typewritten inventories on the Archivum Saeculare have been elaborated. * The Primatial Archives is at the disposal of researchers each weekday. We have a research room and a reference library. The neighbouring Archiépiscopal Simor Library and the Archidiocesan Library with their material of history and of the history of art may also help the researcher. There is a microfilm reader at disposal. Demands for reproduction (xerox, photography) are met by loaning to the photo laboratory of the Hungarian National Archives.
