arranged in a collection. Among the family and personal archival groups the Commonage Archives of the Földváry Clan (1733-1879) and the private correspondence of the sub-prefect László ENDRE (1917-1944) are prominent, among the ecclesiastical archives the rich archives of the Vác chapter as a place of authenticity, reaching from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries. We preserve but fragments of the records of the Vác convent of the Franciscan Order (1601-1946). There are several collections in the Archives, such as those of plans of forestry management (1934-1953), photographs (1900-1944), maps (17451948) and microfilms. Among the archival groups of the 1919 Councils' Republic we mention those of the Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun County Directorate and of some district directorates. After World War II the National Committees of the county, of 180 boroughs and villages have played an outstanding role in organizing the administration and promoting economic production, their records are enriching the source basis of our most recent history. The archival groups of the councils comprise the records of the county council (1950-1956), the journals (1950-1971) and records (1950-1961) of the district councils, the journals of the village councils up to 1957. The almost 800 running metres of the 346 archival groups illustrate the period of socialist construction. A special source value is attributed to the records of the County and District Popular Control Commissions (1958-1963). Finally we mention our most valuable deposit, the economic archives of the Vác bishopric (1298-1944). # On the situation and the material of the Archives one may consult the following works: Pál NYÁRY: Javallat Pest megye közigazgatási rendszere iránt (Proposal for the Administrative System of Pest County), Pest, 1840. — Antal FÖGLEIN: Pest vármegye iratainak rendezése (The Arrangement of the Records of Pest County), Levéltári Közlemények 1930.
