(Salgótarján, 1975.) The research room is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. In the Balassagyarmat department research is possible in the same hours, if an archivist is present. The photo workshop and DALCO copying apparatus are producing reproductions in a restricted measure. The film archives of the institution have almost 30,000 photographs on the material of the Hungarian National Archives and other repositories at home and abroad, which are relating to Nógrád county. A microfilm reader is at disposal for the use of this material. The special library exists from 1968, it has many defects therefore. The Archives' library does not collect the literature of local history, since it is a task of the county library; it prefers the acquisition of source publications, statistics, directories, registers etc. necessary for research.
