Komárom Megyei Levéltár (Komárom County Archives)

The papers of the Palásthy family (5 running metres) are derived from the thirteenth to the nineteenth centuries. The most precious pieces have been published by Pál Palásthy: A Palásthyak (The P-s), vols I to III. Among the collections the eighteenth-nineteenth century collection of manuscript books, gathered by the Tata advocate Béla TROYKÓ, deserves mention. The everyday life of the 1919 Hungarian Councils' Republic is mirrored by the material of the Workers', Peasants' and Soldiers' Council of Esztergom County and City (1 running metre). We get a glance into the days and weeks after the liberation, full of the desire and will to new developments, by the help of the records of national commissions and of a few land-claimants commissions. The history of the days of Esztergom, Tata, Tatabánya, Dorog, Kisbér, Nyergesujfalu, of several cities and communities of the county at this time, cannot be written without knowing this small-size material. The records of the Lord Lieutenant, municipal commission and subprefect of Komárom-Esztergom county up to 1950 are outstanding sources for the history of the years after the liberation. This material of 30 running metres is relatively complete and apt for research. The records of the burgomasters of the cities Esztergom and Komárom are illustrating the life of the respective cities, but also those of the Tatabánya mayor (city from 1947) are valuable for the development, the life and the problems of this settlement. The chief notaries of the three districts (Esztergom, Gesztes, Tata) left a material of 15 running metres each. We preserve the records of the councils of different levels in ever growing quantity since the establishment of councils (1950) almost up to our day. Those of the various sections of the Executive Committee of Komárom County Council from 1950 to 1960 total more than 200 running metres. Their part prior to 1956 is rather difficult for research, owing to the system of registering cards; their most valuable portion, the journals of council and executive committee sections, have not been taken over yet. On the other hand we preserve the journals of the district councils abolished in the early seventies from 1950 to 1971, nay also the records of the 1974 abolished Tata district from 1950 to 1972 (180 running metres) are in our custody. The historical material of the five cities, Esztergom, Komárom, Oroszlány, Tata and Tatabánya, is in our stack-rooms up to 1956. The journals of the village councils and their executive committees are taken over up to the same year. The archival material of the regional specialized administrative organs of
