Epilógus
Diplomatarium comitum terrestrium Crisiensium (1274-1439) fifteenth century we cannot find the corroboratio in every charter.161 The formula prevailing in the second half of the fourteenth century appears with lesser or greater variations (in cuius rei memoriam ...).162 For the charters issued in the 1420s and 1430s, it is characteristic that the corroboratio is usually missing.163 The datatio is always placed in the final part of charter.164 It states place and date specified according to the Christian calendar except in two cases,165 following the usual pattern of place of publication, then day, month and year of publication.166 All charters of the comites terrestres of Križevci that are extant are by their own form open charters, letters patent (litterae patentes), or privileges. We do not know about the letters close (litterae clausae) which were issued by the comites terrestres of Križevci. Epilogue With a charter from 1 June 1430 Sigismund of Luxemburg ended the existence of the castle district of Križevci. The ruler then, on the request of Michael of Raven, protonotary of Križevci, and John Ostfi of Poganac (de Herbortya), and for their merits, elevated all of the castle warriors of Križevci, with their lands exempted from the appurtenances of the castle, granting them a new donation. In the spring of 1431, the chapter of Čazma instituted them to the estates.167 161 Completely lacking, for example: 5 April 1423 (Documenta 50), 5 September 1435 (Documenta 59). We know the manner of sealing, but it was not described with the usual formulation, for example: 1 February 1418: presencium litterarum nostrarum sigillo nostro pendenti communitarum testimonio mediante (Documenta 46). 162 Longer version, for example: 16 January 1409 (Documenta 31), shorter version, for example: 2 July 1411 (Documenta 33). 163 Among seven charters issued in that period we have found corroboratio in only one; 10 August 1437 (Documenta 61). 164 Similarly, in the sources of the bans of Slavonia and comites of Križevci, Križevci as a place in the documents are mentioned in two forms (in Crisio or Crisii). 165 a charter of Valentin, son of Blaise of Poljana of 2 August 1430 does not contain a place of issue (Documenta 58). In one charter (from 21 April 1421) a part of the datatio where the place of publication should be written is physically missing (Documenta 47). 166 Deviation from this practice is seen in the charter of comes terrestris Demetrius of 21 May 1330, where a place of issuing appears in the middle of the date, when defining days: feria secunda proxima, in Crisio, post Ascensionem Domini, anno Domini millesimo CCC" XXX0 (Documenta 3). 167 Contents of these two charters is retold in a charter of vicebans and comites of Križevci, George of Bisag and Thomas of Cirák from 16 January 1446 (AHAZU, D-XI-60; MNL OL, DF 231 254). 138
