Comes terrestris Crisiensis. An introductory study cannot be found in the texts.143 In the charters, we do not find marginally added parts outside of the "main body of the text." Occasionally we come across initials, but they are limited only to the word “Nos," where the letter "n" was written with a greater or lesser degree of decorations from the rest of the text.144 In the charter of Nicholas of Jalšovec from 1425, a couple of letters in the first line are written so that they spread upwards (scriptura longior).145 Charters written in this period show general characteristics of cursive Gothic scripture. Numbers in the contextus are always written in letters and in datatio either in letters or partially in letters and Roman numerals. If the original charters of the fourteenthcentury comites terrestres are examined, it is evident that they are confirmed by pendent seal, while those from fifteenth century have on their back an impressed seal.146 The pendent seal is usually hanging on a silk ribbon, but ribbons made out of parchment do survive,147 such as in the charter of Andrew, son of Martin in 1377.148 While conducting this study we did not find a seal of the comes terrestris of Križevci. Even in the best cases only traces of an image on official seals are extant. From the remains, it would appear that the seal probably preserved the natural colour of wax, with an external diameter of approximately 3 cm.149 We have no information regarding the metal seal of the comes terrestris. 143 Extremely neat and regular handwriting is found, for example, in the charter of 24 January 1425 of Nicholas of Jalšovec (Documenta 55). 144 In Documenta 46, the letter "N" is drawn in such a way that its legs are drawn with two lines, and the space between them is left unfilled. In Documenta 49, the "N" was written in bold and enlarged, and its legs were connected with two parallel lines that gradually lift from left to right. In Documenta 61, the "N" was written in bold and enlarged with every leg having three small lines through its middle. In Documenta 45, the "N" was written in bold and enlarged, with the left leg having a small line through its middle. 145 Documenta 55. The initial ("n" for Nos) is decorated more lavishly than usual in the charters of the comites terrestres, written with longer legs, with floral motifs in a zigzag pattern or similar. 146 In the 1420s charters begin to appear which are corroborated by a pressed seal on the back: 5 April 1423 (Documenta 50), 16 May 1425 (Documenta 56), 2 August 1430 (Documenta 58), 29 September 1436 (Documenta 60). 147 6 April 1418 (Documenta 47). 148 17 March 1377 (Documenta 21). From various colours, we can find green (Demetrius: Documenta 3), blue (Peter, son of Nicholas: Documenta 7) and red (Nicholas, son of Demetrius: Documenta 9). 149 This size, however, should be treated with caution. It only seems that the size cannot be larger than 3 cm in diameter. This charter is sealed by the seal of Paul the Great, comes of Križevci; for the description of the seal, see: Eva Halász, Magyar 135
