Diplomatarium comitum terrestrium Crisiensium (1274-1439) he determined the destiny of castle warriors without male heirs,123 while in one case the charters of the former comes terrestris are copied.124 In the fifteenth century charters issued by the comes terrestris of Križevci show greater variety: there were still property issues,125 but cases regarding loans126 and protests127 were also conducted in front of the comes terrestris. In the fifteenth century, however, we do not find cases from the previous group of charters in which the charters of former comites terrestres were copied.128 We only know about charters of postponements, which were issued by the comites terrestres.129 In a similiar fashion to noble magistrates and county comites, the comes terrestris held his court (sedes iudiciaria) together whith his associates. Here he passed rulings reffering to disputes among nobiles castri,130 or ruled upon disputes between them and nobles of the realm (nobiles regni).131 However, those nobles of the realm were probably just former castle warriors who were ennobled. In the course of the law-suit, litigators came in front of the comes terrestris and his assessors where they filed suits or gave their defence and submitted evidence. After that, the comes terrestris and his assessors ruled over the question.132 The comes terrestris passed judgements on the octaves, much like the other judges of the realm. In the royal fifteenth-century law court, we know that four octaves were usual for trial. On the other hand, it is clear from the 123 20 Septemberl356 (Documenta 9), 25 March 1385 (Documenta 24). 124 20 April 1369 (Documenta 13). 125 The division of estates: 5 September 1435 (Documenta 59), the institution to the estate: 7 May 1408 (Documenta 28). 126 1 February 1418 (Documenta 46), 5 April 1423 (Documenta 50), 16 May 1425 (Documenta 56). 127 2 August 1430 (Documenta 58). 128 Thus, we know of charters of the comites terrestres in which charters of other comites terrestres are summarised or copied. The charter of Adam, son of Nicholas of Mindszent of 8 July 1411, was summarised by Valentin, son of Blaise of Poljana in 11 May 1413 (Documenta 34 and 39), while a charter of Valentin, son of Blaise of 16 January 1409 was copied by comes terrestris Nicholas of Jalšovec in 24 January 1425 (Documenta 31 and 54). 129 11 May 1413 (Documenta 39). iso 5 March 1417: unacum nobilibus castri in sede nostra iudiciaria nobiscum sedentibus iudicando conmissimus (Documenta 45). 131 11 May 1413: unacum ... nobilibus castri et nobilibus regni pro tribunali iudicio in sede nostra iudicaria sedentibus ... decrevimus (Documenta 39). Similarly, the charter of 7 May 1408 "mixed" closer and further neighbours of the nobiles castri who belonged to the Hegen kindred during the perambulation: vicinis et commetaneis earundem universis quam nobilibus castri quam nobilibus regni inibi legitime convocatis et presentibus (Documenta 28). 132 11 May 1413 (Documenta 39), 24 January 1425 (Documenta 55). 132
