Comes terrestris Crisiensis. An introductory study the castle district of Rovišće.31 The last study was extended and translated into Croatian and besides the fact that it is now more easily accessible to Croatian scholarship, its value lies in the fact that it summarizes previous results of Hungarian scholarship and that his analysis demonstrates how the castle warriors and praediales were not identical social groups. He emphasized that one has to bear in mind the fact that castle warriors were located everywhere in the Kingdom of Hungary-Croatia, whilst nobiles praediales can be found only in the area of several castle districts of medieval Slavonia - Čazma, Garić, Garešnica, Rovišće and Zagreb. At the same time, he argues that the lesser nobles of Turopolje were analogous to the praedial nobility to the south of the river Drava. Very briefly, he mentions the function of the comes terrestris and disagrees with Pesty, who stated that former comes of Rovišće became "only comes terrestris, that is, the administrator" of that area. He thinks that that this theory is not accurate because the function of the former comes of Rovišće has merged with the function of the castellan of Koprivnica castle during the merging of the castle districts into the county of Križevci. The last independent comes was mentioned in 1370. On the other hand, the exact sequence of the comites terrestres of Rovišće is known for the period from the thirteenth until the fifteenth century.32 Recently, one of the authors of this source collection, Éva B. Hálasz, dealt directly with the functions of the institution of comes terrestris, and hence a large part of this introductory study is based on her previously published studies.33 rencia (Szeged, 2009. június 4-5.) előadása, eds.
