This Company was created by the merger of several enter prises . The Danubius Shipyard and Mechanical Engineers Co. Ltd. was founded in 189o by the Hungarian Industrial and Commercial Bank after it had bought for the new company the Ujpest Shipyard of the Prague Machine Works Co. Ltd. The Schoenichen-Haitmann United Shipyard, Machine and Boiler Works Co. Ltd. was created jointly by the Hungarian General Credit Bank and the Hungarian Discount and Exchange Bank in 1895 by the merger of two private firms having worked already in the 1860 years. The merger of the Danubius Hungarian Shipyard and me­chanical Engineers Co. Ltd. and of the Shoenichen-Hartmann United Shipyard, Machine and Boiler Works Co. Ltd. took place in 1896 under the style of Danubius Shipyard and Me­chanical Engineers Co. Ltd. In the merger transaction the Hungarian General Credit Bank> the Hungarian Discount and Exchange Bank and the Hungarian Industrial and Commercial Bank took part.
