Dina punctata and D. lineata, are known from the Iberian peninsula. Specimens of Dina from the Atlas mountains, Morocco, turned out to belong to a new subspecies of D. punctata. Most probably, some of the specimens described as D. lineata by Moore (1939: 86: "All three specimens of group a have the ground-colour above brownish and marked with four punctated black longitudinal stripes, of which the paramedians are the denser, like typical Dina lineata, and resembling the American Erpobdella punctata.") from Morocco can be considered to be conspecific to Dina punctata maroccana n. ssp.
