Eucandona rostrata (Brady and Norman) var. the r mali s 1900 = ? Candona rostrata thermalis 10: 247-248, Fig. 47, a-d (Daday, 1900) (G.W.Müller, 1912) Table 3 is a list of the Ostracoda material of the DADAY collection in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Since DADAY dealt with materials of several foreign collectors and museums it is very likely that there exists material of taxa DADAY described in other European museums. The Ostracoda collection in Budapest is divided into two parts: specimens in alcohol (543 tubes) and mounted specimens (373 slides). It includes material of 75 taxa described by DADAY. Unfortunately, many slides are in poor condition. The material has been registered in several ways. One type of registering was introduced by DADAY himself, but a considerable part of the collection which was purchased by the Hungarian Natural History Museum was numbered in a different fashion by E. DUDICH, curator of the collection at that time. Finally, some of the material had not been given definite register numbers. In the following catalogue, first the name of the taxon and that of the author are given as labelled by DADAY, then follows the currently used name of the taxon. The phrase "manuscript name" was used to indicate unpublished names. The following item is the number of slides, tubes and of specimens contained, after these are listed the localities according to the labelling of Daday. Hungarian localities are indicated by "H" to separate them from those of other countries. This indication was used for localities of Hungary belonging to the period of Daday. The differences of registering mentioned above necessitated the introduction of a new uniform registering of the whole material. Both types of registering are given, the former numbers indicated by "D" and after semicolon followed the new numbers. The whole string of numbers are enclosed in parentheses. In the abundant Crustacea collection of the Zoologisches Museum, Berlin can be found original specimens of several Ostracoda taxa described by DADAY, as well. They are the following: (species names are given as on the original labels) Cyprinotus inversus Daday, Cypris vanhoeffeni Daday, Eucypris devexa Daday,* Eucypris kilimensis Daday, Eucypris kraepelini Daday, Eucypris laticauda Daday, Eucypris puncticulata Daday* Herpetocypris schultzei Daday, Stenocypris angulosa Daday, Stenocypris marginata Daday* Stenocypris stagnalis Daday*. These are considered as type material, indicated by an asterisk on the label. Unfortunately, DADAY himself did not make type designations, except for a few cases when he used the phrase "Typus". Therefore, when selecting lecto- and paralectotypes from these materials, specimens from all these museums should be taken into consideration. * Indicates species, which have specimens also in the Zoologisches Museum, Hamburg, received originally from Berlin.
