Marisia XXXVI Problema liber-profesionistilor ín documente ale Serviciului Securitätii Poporului Mures din anul 1949 Felician SUCIU The problem freelancers in documents the People's Security Service Mures 1949 Summary After the takeover in August 23rd 1944 lead by king Michael, marshal Antonescu was disposed of authority. This allowed the Soviet army to enter Bucharest on August 31st. Six months were required in order to establish the new government endorsed by Moscow. As a result of a resolution approved by the Central Committee of the Romanian Worker’s Party, in November 1948 took shape the "Party Active", consisting of about 200000 of investigators - Security officers, army officers and leading members in the Ministry of Justice. The verifications lasted from November 1948 untill May 1950. The last round of verifications included the self-employed people in the Mures county. Between November 25th 1949 and January 10h 1950 captain Mihály Alexandru (real name) was the head of the People’s Security Service. On this occasion was discovered the fact that most of the doctors, solicitors, workers and merchants lived their lives in the same way as their ancestors, based on the values of the past and few of them had an easier life. Even if some of them, mainly intelectuals, had been members of a political party in the past, now they were expecting that as time went by their situation would clear up, especially as far as the professional aspect of their lives was concerned. The crises they found themselves in often forced them to take on temporary additional work in order to improve their financial state which was getting worse from day to day. All these verifications performed by the People’s Security Service of the Mures county have been done through the People’s Security Bureau.
