Marin Pop: Activitatea lui Corneliu Coposu pe tărăm cultural-naţional în perioada 1940-1944

Marisia XXXIV-XXXV Activitatea lui Corneliu Coposu pe tarám cultural-national Tn perioada 1940-1944* Marin POP Corneliu Coposu’s activity on cultural-national realm between 1940-1944 Summary The present study tries to emphasize the work of the great politician from Sälaj, Corneliu Coposu, between 1940-1944, on cultural and national realm. Of course, he also carried on a special political activity beeing as a matter-of-fact the ’’shadow" of the great politician from Sälaj, luliu Maniu, between 1938-1947, when in Romania were established the three dictatorships: of Charles the II, the Antonescu regime and the communist one. Moving to Bucharest after The Vienna Diktat in 30 August 1940, Corneliu Coposu will carry on a prodigious cultural activity together with other Transylvanian refugees in the capital, especially within political associations, ”Pro-Transylvania”, ’’The Refugees Students Home”, and ’’The Association of refugees and expelled romanians from ArdeaI which was given up through the verdict from Vienna”, he was a member of the initiative committee of these associations and also a vicepresident, beeing as a matter-of-fact the ’’shadow” of the great politician from Sälaj, luliu Maniu, between 1938-1947. Also with other transylvanian scholars, as it is shown in a note of ’’The Assurance” dated 15 October 1941, luliu Maniu give them the mission to found urgently in the Capital, A Committee of Astra, in order to form the first cultural transylvanian nucleus of the Old Kingdom. Another important aspect of his work during this period was that as a journalist for the "Ardealul” newspaper, he was a member of the initiative committee of the magazine, and also as editor in chief. Between 1941-1944 Corneliu Coposu publishes in "Ardealul,, newspaper a series of articles in which he shows his vehement protest against the Vienna Diktat. With tenderness and melancholy he recalls the days spent on his homeland Bobota, in Easter and Christmas time. He also skillfully describes stilistc the pain of the estranged brothers, vibrating in his words full of emotions the hearts of all romanians refugees. A special place between the articles published by Corneliu Coposu in ’’Ardealul” newspaper is held by the evocation of some fundamental moments in the history of ’’Tara Silvaniei” and Tranylvania, and also writing biográfic works of some personalities as: Inochentie Micu Klein, Andrei §aguna, Simion Bärnutiu, Victor Deleu etc. For his work in the media, between 1941- 1944 and his sustained fight for the reunification of Transylvania, Corneliu Coposu was proposed in October 1944, as officer, for the order ”23 August 1944”.
