AN ETHNOGRAPHIC AND MUSEOGRAPHIC EXPERIENCE, THE EXHIBITION MURES FAIRS AND THE RURAL WORLD

Abstract

This paper want to promote the concept of an temporary ethnographic exhibition in Targu-Mures, about the urban and rural fairs from the Mures County in the first half of the XXth century. In that time we found an increase of the all kind of fairs in the Transylvanian region, after the agrarian reform at the beginning of the XXth century.

The exhibition want to show the organize of an annual fair in the Mures County following the old calendar and the Mures newspapers articles from that time. With the historic and ethnografic collections of the Mures County Museum and others pieces specially collected for the exhibition, we can restore the air of the interwar Mures fairs, after the memories of the old peoples from this area.

The structure of the exhibition follows the three or five days of the Mures fairs in the interwar period: first the cattle fairs, than the cereals market, the goods fairs and at the end the bazaar and the fun of children and young peoples in the last days of goods fairs.
