Reintregirea, 2006 THE WOOD CHURCH FROM TROITA DEDICATED THE ST. ARCHANGELS MICHAEL AND GABRIEL (A valuable masterpiece of Romanian folk art and history) The wooden church of village Troita, community Gälesti was placed in the former Romanian cemetery, whose stone monuments date from 1820. Dedicated to the memory of the Archangels, the church has a rectangular plan, with a polygonal sided raised apse. The traditional bell tower was placed nearby. The church is small in size: 7.85 m long, 3.80 wide, while the sides the apse are 1.56 m, 1.94 m and 1.78 m. The church was first mentioned in documents in 1775 and also earlier in the 1760-1762 listing; therefore we dare say it was built earlier. Later on a closed, short porch was added of fretwork wood. Threatened with disappearance, the church was saved in 1975 when the local county authorities engaged in its restoration, bringing it to present shape. In the absence of a congregation, the church has not been aut of use for several years. Its treasures have been kept in various other places but the imperial icons painted by loan Chis are absolutely outstanding. 105
