Prehistoric Wheel Models from the Collection of the Mure$ County Museum 25 18. Unknown place of discovery (Pi. 1/2), overtaken from the collection of the Aiud Museum in 18.01.1999. Fragment of a wheel with only a tiny part from the wheel and the axles being kept. Made of clay, tempered with fine sand, well burnished. It has a black colour. It is decorated with two incised triangles, a concentrically scratched circle around the axle on one side, and two concentrically scratched circles around the axle on the other side of the artefact. Dimensions: diam. hole: 0.7 cm; without inv. no. Dating: Bronze Age, Wietenberg culture 19. Unknown place of discovery (PL 3/18, spindle-whorl?), overtaken from the collection of the Aiud Museum in 18.01.1999. Wheel with one flat side and the other one having a conical shape. Made of clay, tempered with fine sand and fine pebbles, well burnished. It has a brownish-red colour. It has also secondary burning marks. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 5 cm; diam. hole: 0.7 cm; without inv. no. Dating: Bronze Age (?) 20. Unknown place of discovery (Pi. 2/11), overtaken from the collection of the Aiud Museum in 18.01.1999. Wheel with an axle visible on both sides. It is made of clay, tempered with fine sand and mica, average burnished. It has a brownish-red colour. It has also secondary burning marks. It shows a hasty and uneven handling, both axles being made in a superficial way. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 4.6 cm; diam. hole: 0.6 cm; without inv. no. Dating: Bronze Age (?) 21. Unknown place of discovery (Pi. 4/21), overtaken from the former collection of the Gornesti castle. Wheel with an uneven outline, without an axle, tempered with fine sand, with greyish colour, very fine burnished and polished. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 5.7 x 5.3 cm; diam. hole: 0.3 cm; Inv. no. 1697. Dating: (?) 22 Unknown place of discovery (Pi. 3/15), from the former private collection of Ferenc Kovács, from Tärgu Mures. Wheel with axels on both sides, on one side the axle being broken. Made of clay, tempered with fine sand and fine pebbles, well burnished. It has a greyish colour. On one side of the wheel one can see an incised concentrically line, and the axle of the piece is decorated entirely with oblique lines having a width of around 1.2 cm. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 3.8 cm; diam. hole: 0.7 cm on the side with the fragmentary axel, and 0.4 cm on the other side, where it seems that the perforation was not made completely; Inv. no. 2718. Dating: Bronze Age (?)
