Prehistoric Wheel Models from the Collection of the Mure? County Museum 23 7. Tárgu Mures-Ceíflíe (Pl. 1/1), 2011 excavation, depth: 1.20 cm, from the context filling. Fragmentary wheel model, with an uneven outline, having an axle on both sides. More than half of the artefact is preserved. Made of clay, tempered with fine sand, well burnished. It has a brownish-greyish colour, having also traces of secondary burning. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 4.3 cm; diam. hole: 0.4 cm; Inv. no. 8767. Dating: Bronze Age / Early Iron Age? 8. Tárgu Mures-Cetate (Pi. 2/9), 2012 excavation, depth: 1.70 cm from the no. 3316 topographical point, site grid: B/C 4, from the filling of the context, black, compacted layer, together with Noua culture material. Wheel with axles on both sides. It is made of clay, tempered with fine sand and mica, average burnished. It has a brownish-greyish colour, having also traces of secondary burning. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 4.6 cm; diam. hole: 0.5 cm; Inv. no. 8760. Dating: Late Bronze Age, Noua culture 9. Tárgu Mures-Cetate (Pi. 2/10), 2012 excavation, C41, depth: 1.59, from the filling of a pit. Wheel with axles visible on both sides. Made of clay, tempered with fine sand, well burnished. It has a brick-red colour, having also traces of secondary burning. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 4 cm; diam. hole: 0.3 cm; Inv. no. 8768 Dating: Late Bronze Age, Noua culture 10. Chiheru de Jos (PI. 2/8), vest to the village, near the road D7 153, 2003. Fragmentary wheel with a rounded axle on both sides. A third of the wheel is kept, with the axle and the hole. Made of clay, tempered with crushed sherds and course sand, average burnished. It has a brick-red colour. Dimensions: diam. hole: 0.5 cm; Inv. no. 7844. Dating: Wietenberg culture, phase IV. Berecki 2005. 11. Cräciunesti (PL 3/14, spindle-whorl?), unknown find spot Wheel with an even outline, flat on one side, with a slightly boss on the other side. Made out of clay, tempered with fine sand and mica, fine burnished. It has a brownishreddish colour, having also traces of secondary burning. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 6.5 cm; diam. hole: 1.2 cm; New Inv. no. 266; Old Inv. no. 249. Dating: Ha (?); however some Neolithic, Cotofeni, prehistoric and Dacian discoveries are also mentioned. Lazär 1995, 97. 12. Petrilaca (PI. 4/20, spindle-whorl?), excavations in 1957. Wheel with a flat surface. Made of clay, tempered with fine sand and mica, well burnished. It has a brownish-reddish-blackish colour, with intense traces of secondary burning. Dimensions: diam. wheel: 4.8 x 4.5 cm; diam. hole: 0.9 cm; Inv. no. 3448.
