The prehistoric pottery from the settlement of Chinari “Mociar”, regarding the composition of the paste, thickness of the wall, inner and outer surface treatment, can be classified in three major categories: coarse ware, semi fine and fine pottery. Surface treatment Graph. I. Surface treatment based on ceramic categories In the category of coarse pottery we included the pots and “bag-shaped” vessels, which represent the most common type (Fig. VIII—XII/1—29). The surface of the pots is poor or medium smoothed, made of coarse, porous, unevenly burned paste tempered with gravel and crushed sherd. The surface of the semi fine category is neater, with medium or good smoothing; we can include here the shallow and deep bowls. In the category of fine pottery we included the vessel that have a metallic, black coloured, well smoothed surface, polished outside or inside, tempered with crushed sherd. Temper types Graph. II.
