ASPECTS CONCERNING THE THEORY OF HISTORY IN IOAN LUPAS WORKS (Summary) A famous representative of the Romanian history research field, a teacher, a theolog, militant journalist, loan Lupa§ investigated not only the history of Transylvania, although he pointed out the individuality of this Romanian region, comparatively with other territories that were under the ungarian rule, but he also underlined and made evidence of the similarity, if not even identity, of this Romanian area with those from the South and East of the Carpathians. Taking into consideration the theoretical references of some scholars L. Ranke (the descriptive method), E. Meyer (explanatory method), K. Lamprecht (sociological method), J. Michelet (the resurrection method of the historical life), as well as the remarks of Foustel de Coulange. I. Luna§ aimed to accuracy and rigour and also wished to spotlight the decisive elements of the historical development, of the economic, social, ethnic-cultural, moral-religious and of the national consiousness developement. Transylvania is the center and the „heard” of the Romanian land and it is a real ethnic reservoir, At the same time I. Lupa§ showed the endurance wer of the Romanian inhabitants, the relation between the „birth” of the Romaian people and the process of christianize and again pointed out the perpetual and steady wish of union under the Michael the Brave, who, for a short time, achieved a political union which was going to anticipate, three centuries later, the Great Union of 1918. 26Mathias Bernath, Habsburgii §i inceputurile formärii Natiunii Romane, Cluj-Napoca, p. 16, 191,254-255.
