II. Istorie

104 CORINA TURC Romanian-ltalian cultural relations which functioned already in the epoch mentioned. At the present-day stage of researches, we can find in the Italian historiography information and commentaries about Bräncoveanu, belonging to two distinct periods. First, it is the historiography of the XVIIIth century, which records more or less known names (Anton Maria del Chiaro, Luigi Ferdinando Marsigli, Bartolomeo Ferrati and Nicolo da Porta). All these, travellers or even princely secretaries, have intered the epoch in accordance with the facts which themselves experienced. In the second category one can find the works of the XX century, belonging to certain philologists (Ramiro Ortiz and Mario Ruffini), become accidentally, not only admirers of the poetry of Eminescu, but of also admirers of the Brancovan epoch. Very meaningful are the contributions of Mario Ruffini, who achieved a complete survey, focusing both upon the cultural patronage of Bräncoveanu and the political framework of his reign.
