598 FLOREA COSTEA. IOAN CIUPEA 12 THE NATIVE SETTLEMENT FROM $ERCAIA, BRA$OV - DISTRICT, AFTER THE ROMAN RETREAT (Summary) The authors present one of the theree settlements after the Roman retreat, from $ercaia, near Fägäras. On the basis of the archeological material (pottery, glass, burnt clay and stone tools) as well of the houses and its annexes (hearthes, ovens, pits for food), the authors come to the conclusion that it is about a romanised native community, returned on a Dacian place, which was even before Dacia was conquered by Romans. It does not point out German elements. The settlement has its beginning immediate after the year 271 (274/5) and it lasts about a hundred years.
