FACTORS RESPONSABLE FOR LANSLIDES IN TlRNAVE HILLY LAND (Summary) Factors responsable for landslides were studied in the hilly land of Tirnave rivers. The study revealed that two categories of factors contri­bute to the frequent occurrence of landslides, such as: a) compulsory and b) occasionally. The compulsory ones are of lithological, orographical und climatic nature: clayey type of rocks and soils; the declivity of relief und heavy rains in concetrated spells, or an abundence of melting water. The occasionally factors are multiple and they cause modification of phisico-mechanical properties of soils and rocks. About 80% of slopes of studied area present landslide potential A diagram representing the risck periods of landslides was com­­pilated. Reduction of soil moisture should reduce landslide potential, so the measures suggested are afforestation in the region, construction of arti­ficial drainage networks, levelling of waved area on the slopes, regu­lation of rivers and brooks and the correction of land-use.
