30 VALERIU LAZAR 20 HEIGHT SETTLEMENTS WITH COTOFENI TYPE TERRACES FROM TRANSYLVANIA (Summary) Within this part of the study (III) the author comments upon the type of the height settlements with terraces as well as upon their inventory. Their form, the terraces on which they are set up, the sound structure of the dwellings in the settlements, with their rich, complex various and numerous inventory (silica, stone and copper tools and weapons, ceramics, plastic art, etc.) indicate and support the fact that they were of a long duration. The proto-Thracian communities which had created this type of settlements were sedentary communities. They had taken over and adapted elements of material culture from the meo-neolithic communities, but at the same time they created important material values as it comes out from the analysis of the inventory of these settlements and these values would be also find in the Thracian civilization of the bronze age.
