Vincze Zsoltika at the piano. Below: The Loboncz triplets This past Christmas as for many years now we had the pleasure to enjoy the Hungarian Children's Christmas performance organized by the Pannónia Hungarian American Club. On the afternoon of December 11th, Saint Emery's Church hall in Fairfield Connecticut was filled with excitement and anticipation as children and parents and grandparents filled the room to take part in this lovely event. This year Mrs. Zsuzsanna Deer distributed the chosen poems amongst the boys and girls and she found the new "Christmas room" backdrop for the stage also. Mrs. Maria Horvath Sabla and Ms. Eva Mikolai Ms. Judit Balogh ,and Dr. Judit Mayor were also responsible for organizing the evening. A little after 4 o'clock Eva Mikolai addressed the audience and the children on and off the stage with a few words. After the greetings Rev. Dr. Sándor Havadtoy said the opening prayer. He reminded everyone about the hardship Christians experience in today's world when in the name of political correctness certain elements try to do away with Christmas our Holiest Celebration...He also called attention to the Hungarian nation's attitude towards those living outside Vincze Zolika and Zsoltika handed to us their simple gifts, which in our eyes were more precious than gold in those days. We give you thanks that they implanted into our hearts the love of Christ and of our nation. Help us transplant these into the hearts of our children. In the name of Christ we pray. Amen.” (continued) The borders...The followings are a few thoughts grabbed from the prayer: "Dear Lord, Heavenly Father We came to this holy place to celebrate Christmas. We live in a world in which it is not proper to say "Merry Christmas", or Christmas tree, and to place the Manger in front of the Town Hall and sing carols in our public schools. In our city, a church was closed by police guards with their hands on the guns, the congregation was chased out of the building that was donated once by Hungarian fathers and mothers and ancestors to the glory of God through over a hundred years. It is stolen away. We come from different places, homes, and churches, as faithful Hungarian Christians to greet each other freely and joyously 'Merry Christmas and Happy New Year'. We wish this to all our Hungarian brothers and sisters, to those who live outside the borders of Hungary. Help them in their miserable condition and strengthen them to preserve their faith and their national identity that lives in them. And we pray Lord that you may forgive the inhabitants of Hungary proper their heartlessness by which they forget their brothers and sisters who are forced to live outside of their bor-ders and refused to take responsibility for them. Forgive them Oh, Lord the shame which been brought upon our nation, that we might forgive them. We thank you oh Lord to call us together here to worship you. To remember we are thinking of all the Christmases when we were very young, and our beloved angels, our parents, decorated the Christmas tree and lit up the candles, and Rev Dr. Sándor Havadtoy
